I have a 20 year old Craftsman lawn tractor that needed a new seat and this one seemed like a good deal. Some of the reviews for this and other replacement seats mentioned that the bolt patterns didn't allow for the seat adjustment or the safety switch to work properly. In my case, I was able to remove the old seat by taking out the seat adjustment bolt and the shouldered alignment bolt and put the new seat on using the same adjustment bolt and a larger regular 3/8ths U.S. bolt in an alignment hole. (One alignment hole had a nut that was welded in crooked and couldn't be used.) Seat adjustment, safety switch and seat tilt still work as original. This seat is slightly wider than original but still is a good deal for the money.

My old and much used Wards (Gilson) "tractor" ( actually and over-grown lawn-mower) seat has survived for 50 years, but the vinyl covering has gotten so cracked it was painful to sit on. I have been using a shaggy "rug-sample" to protect my butt, but now with this perfect match seat I can finally throw the rug out. This is almost identical to the OEM and was very easy to swap out. I couldn't see paying well over a hundred bucks for a seat from other sources, but since I recently rebuilt that old 16hP B&S engine, I figured I'd go all out and buy her a new seat for much less. This chair was probably not inteded to use on my small 30" Craftsman mower but my faith in Amazon returns along with the seats universal description made me give it a try. Glad i did, I was able to strongly secure the seat onto the original seat plate due to it's designed universal bolt pattern. (Hardware not included) It still was elevated more than the original seat to where the seat botton was close to the stearing wheel. I pursued to try it out and the seat was designed to lower from a spring activated tensioner. This is a keeper, the lower back support it gives is priceless!
