A chain saw mill is a machine that uses a chain and saw blade to cut wood. It's one of the oldest and most popular machines in use today, and it's still widely used for forestry, construction, and other tasks.

The chain saw mill is made up of three main parts: the engine, the arm or saw blade, and the drive train. The engine powers the arm through a gearbox, which in turn moves the saw blade through the wood.

The mill itself is fantastic and just as sturdy, strong, accurate, and adjustable as the more expensive ones. Be aware, if you have a 20" bar - you only have a depth of cut (distance in between the two poles) of about 14-15" max. They make this saw mill with an open ending if you need to cut larger. Otherwise, you'll need to plan on getting a longer bar. Especially if you're milling hardwoods like maple or oak, you will need a saw that is at least 65cc. I have milled 14" slabs with a 45cc saw and it was a pain in the rear - the saw also didn't survive the way to hard work. Regardless of the saw, this mill is doing a fantastic job and stays nice and true. Make or buy yourself a guide rail for the first cut. It's important to get that straight. I found, however, instead of spending $400 for an aluminium one, you can make yourself a very reliable guide rail out of 2x6 and 2x4 material. I assume, if you are milling your own lumber that you are pretty experienced with building your own jigs.

This thing is well built and once your saw is mounted in it and everything tight, it is smooth cutting. Probably important to have enough horsepower to cut whatever you are cutting. I think my saw is on the edge and can imagine with a bit more power would make cutting easier. These can be long cuts. I did find the guide getting hot as I think my exhaust was blowing on the mill. Do make sure everything is tight - I found out the hard way when one clamp holding the bar came loose during a cut. One negative is the rubber handle grip. Useless as it slides right off and actually probably a bit dangerous if you are imagining a sturdy grip there and try to pick up the whole thing by that handle with your saw running. I actually found myself pushing the saw with the upright that adjusts the depth of cut as it gave me better leverage. I will probably just wrap the handgrip in a bunch of duct tape or something to make it more grippy. Great fun tool!

Dude, I love this thing!!! I have been climbing and killing hazard trees for about 13 years and have always just cut it into fire wood. This gives me another option and way to make even more money offof a job. It very easy to use. I made my own ripping chain. I watched a bunch of Youtube but there is a effiecancy learning curve. I run a Stihl 460 with a 32" bar on mine. It took me if minutes to rip a 27" wide 10 ' log in half with a chain I had been using all day. For a 9" board it took 5 minites for the same 10'. The accuracy of you cuts is up to you. Have twice as much fuel on hand as you think you will need, dedicate a half inch socket wrench and box end wrench as well as a tape measure, long leveland large square to a kit for this thing, it will make like easier and faster. Also I made up 5 chains. Then you are always cutting with a sharp chain, draging 27" of wood for 6 to 15 minutes is hard enough on you and your saw. Over all really really happy, two guy with big saw to get alot of boards done in a day!

I had been searching for several months to find just what I wanted. this unit works quite well. I wont tell you its perfect but im very satisfied. the instructions were not as detailed as you would like but with a basic mechanical knowledge you will be able to put this together easily. One bolt was not made correctly and didn't have a head. I had to go purchase a new one. It was a specialty bolt. metric. First time using this I was quite happy at how easily it was to use. make sure you dont over tighten the clamp at the nose of the chainsaw bar.

I used this for the first time a few days ago with an older 56cc saw and 20 inch bar- and a low angle filed crosscut chain. Cut 3 inch slabs from a 21 inch wide log 8 feet long (pine tree)- had to make a second pass from the opposite direction to get all of the way thru. It really was easy to set up and I had better than expected results. Took my time with the saw - and if kept up fine.

We got this so we could make shelves out of wood. I really liked how it is transportable so I can bring it to the wood instead of bringing the wood to me. It was pretty easy to put together and is easy to use. We used a ladder to get the cut started. It cuts prett straight and I cant wait until the wood dries so I can use my shelves.

Chain Saw Mill FAQS

What are the benefits of using a chain saw mill?

There are many benefits to using a chain saw mill, both in terms of productivity and safety. For example, chain saw mills can easily and quickly cut through dense woods, making them a great choice for contractors or homeowners who need to quickly get a job done.

Not to mention, chain saw mills are incredibly safe, even when working with difficult materials like wood.

If you're looking for a powerful and efficient way to cut through wood, a chain saw mill is the perfect solution for you! With prices that are reasonable, chain saw mills provide a high level of productivity and safety for a reasonable price.

Are Chainsaw Mills Any Good?

This is a question that has been on many people's minds lately, as the prices of lumber have skyrocketed. So, does this mean that chainsaw mills are a good investment?

The short answer is that it depends. There are a number of factors that go into determining whether or not a chainsaw mill is a good investment, including the type of lumber being processed, the quality of the machinery, and the overall condition of the mill.

In general, though, chainsaw mills can be a good investment if you're looking to purchase one for use in your own business.

By processing your own lumber, you can save money on supplies and avoid paying high prices at retail stores. Additionally, if the mill is in good condition and the machinery is up to date, you may be able to make some decent profits.

However, be sure to do your research before making any purchases - Chainsaw mills aren't always easy to find or buy, so it's important to do your homework first!

What Size Chainsaw Is Best For Milling?

There's no one right answer to this question, as chain saw sizes vary depending on the type of milling that you plan on doing. However, some general tips that may be helpful include the following:

Always wear safety goggles and a dust mask when milling - Even if you're using a small chain saw, the sawdust can still be dangerous if it's not properly cleaned. Make sure to wear gloves, a dust mask and goggles when milling to protect your lungs and eyes.

Get a chain saw that is comfortable to use - A chain saw that is uncomfortable to use will lead to decreased productivity and may even cause you to injure yourself. Choose a chain saw that is designed for milling and fits your body well.

Use the correct speed - When milling, always use the correct speed for the material that you're working with.

Too fast of a speed can damage the material, while too slow of a speed will result in missed cuts. Use the correct speed for the job at hand and you'll be fine!

Keep an eye on the chain - The chain on a chainsaw needs to be properly maintained in order to ensure proper function and longevity. Check the tension of the chain regularly and replace it as needed.

If you follow these tips, you'll be able to get started on your next project with ease!

How Do You Make A Chainsaw Mill?

A chainsaw mill is a machine that uses a chainsaw to sharpen chains. It is used in woodworking, metalworking, and other types of carpentry. The chainsaw mill consists of a number of rotating blades that cut the chains into small pieces.

The small pieces are then swept away by the chain's momentum and dropped into a hopper. The small pieces that fall out of the chain are then collected by a catcher.

How Fast Does A Chainsaw Mill Cut?

A chainsaw mill is a machine that is used to cut lumber into boards, planks, and other shapes.

It works by moving the chainsaw blade up and down along the timber, making multiple cuts per minute. The speed at which the mill cuts the timber affects the quality of the end product.

How Many CC Is A Chainsaw Mill?

There is no definitive answer to this question. Chainsaw mills can vary in size, from small ones that are used for timber operations to huge machines that are used in the pulp and paper industry.

Generally speaking, the larger the chainsaw mill, the more wood it can process in a given time period.

How Long Does It Take To Mill A Log?

Generally, it takes around two months to mill a log. However, this time frame can vary based on the size and thickness of the log.

In addition, there are certain steps that must be taken in order to mill a log properly - these include cutting the log into even-sized pieces, removing all the bark, and drying the wood thoroughly.

Can You Cut 2x4 With A Chainsaw?

This is a tricky question. On one hand, you could theoretically cut 2x4s with a chainsaw - but this would definitely not be a wise idea! Chainsaws are designed for cutting lumber, not 2x4s. If you try to cut them, you likely will end up damaging the chainsaw and possibly yourself.

Instead, you should get a proper lumber cutter - one that is specifically designed for cutting 2x4s and other thinner lumber. These machines are much safer to use and are much less likely to cause damage.
