Cotton candy is at the top of my favorites list. I've used this same machine before and loved it just the same. I let it heat up for at least 30 minutes and let it run about 20 minutes after I am done using it. I turn it off to add the floss sugar but not till it stops completely and start it back up before it stop spinning completely. Toddlers. Soooo cute. But they LOVE that word MINE and when we were all at the OTHER grandmother’s house and she pulled out her cotton candy machine I had HOPES of getting some fresh cotton candy (which is so tender) but her home machine was kept pretty busy producing small cones for the three grandchildren (we were learning.) Eventually they gave me my own cotton candy, but the two year old immediately commandeered it after I pinched off one tiny bite, and I think it’s undignified for a 65 year old Grandma to take (cotton) candy (back) from a baby. Fast forward to my prepping for an upcoming visit to OUR house. (We are four hours away.) I got on Amazon and ordered this cotton candy machine because it had high marks and over 1,000 reviews. I also thought I should try it out beforehand to make sure it worked properly before the children arrived. I bought the one with five flavors and I used pink vanilla. My first attempt wasn’t so good, but i used a wooden chopstick to knock loose that pink melted sugar you see on the inner rim. I then scraped it together and reloaded it into the spinner, added a bit more sugar, and had another go. And because the grandkids aren’t here yet I ate the results of my experiments and satisfied my craving (I mean, jeez, you forget it’s just pure sugar—a little goes a long way.) Clean up was pretty easy—mainly just water and a little soap. I got some Qtips and wiped up most of the bits that fell through the screen into the heated area. It looks like you can undo a bunch of screws to take the screen off to better clean this motorized part but that would be a hassle. I left the machine cooling on the counter for over an hour and returned to find the sugar ants had surfaced from wherever they come from, so next time I will wash up as soon as it cools off. I think this machine is going to be fun to own.

It showed up exactly as I expected and I let it warm up for a few extra minutes than what the instructions said and it made the cutest little servings of cotton candy that my son and I enjoyed! My only concern is that the part that spins is supposed to pull straight up and out for cleaning, but I couldn’t pull it out, but I let the machine run for about 10ish extra minutes when we were done using it, and it seemed to clear out any leftover sugar, and then, I took the bowl apart and ran it under hot water and towel dried it before putting it away. The product is absolutely amazing. I have been using it for more than 2 months and works perfectly. I have created cotton candies using brown sugar, white sugar and it works fine. you have to let it heat it up for a minute or so and post that pour spoonful of sugar and then the magic starts. The product came well packaged as well. Have uploaded the video while unpacking it. So far we have used it on daily basis and is working perfectly. No complaints really. Very easy to assemble. Just screw on the feet and make sure the top is locked in place. Cleaning is simple too. Unlock the top and clean like you would any other stainless steel item. As for making the cotton candy, you will want to play around with it to find the optimal temperature for the sugar you are using. The best suggestion I have seen is to turn it all the way up and wait a few minutes for it to get to temp. This will clear out any sugar that may have stuck from your previous use. Then bring the temp back down to about 25%. Wait a minute or so and add the sugar. Gradually bring the temperature back up until you start seeing threads of sugar released and note the temp. Thats where you will want to keep it. If you get it too hot, it will release too fast and you'll have a line of sugar crystrals all the around the edge, which is just a waste. Too little heat and it will not melt/release the sugar. But once you find the sweet spot (urr.. no pun intended), youll get maximum cotton from minimum of sugar. I was surprised how little sugar it takes to make a LOT of cotton candy. One little scoop from the (included) stainless steel scoop makes a very large wad of cotton... More than enough for one person. I was concerned that giving my kid what is essentially pure sugar, was going to be a problem. But after seeing how far one scoop goes, I felt a little better about it. I mean, its still pure sugar but it ends up being less than you think. Also included was an extra fuse in case you somehow draw too much current as well as an extra set of brushes for the motor, which is very cool. Its the first time Ive ever seen a motor come with extra brushes for any appliance. So now Im curious if this is something that wears quickly and if so, where do I buy backups? I grew up as a child with a cotton candy machine and wanted to allow my 8 y.o. daughter the same fond memories that I have. This machine is small, but perfectly adequate for her and her brother. We have used regular sugar, floss, and crushed candy canes so far. They all made nice cotton candy. I'm excited to try sugar free hard candy. At 8 years old, my daughter can use it on her own. The clean up is easy. The bowl and lid are removable as well as the center spinning element. I throw them in the sink with warm water and let the sugar dissolve before cleaning. The spinning element is very quiet. Compared to my experience with other cotton candy machines, this one is definitely worth it for the cost. My only complaint is that the lid doesn't lock onto the bowl, so after one or two batches it will start rattling. Sometimes it gets really loud! We have used painters tape to keep the noise down. This machine, like all cotton candy machines, will throw some sugar/floss outside of the bowl. The lid is very helpful in keeping it to a minimum. We haven't had cotton candy float up into the air.
